Commonly referred to as Africa Park, Ethiopia Park was constructed by the Midrock Group 30 years ago and subsequently handed over to the Addis Ababa City Administration in 2011. It comprises three parks in total: Africa Park, Ethiopia Park, and Addis Park. Therefore, the locations of these parks are detailed below.
Located in Kirkos sub-city district 08, this special place is situated at the road divider in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was designed and developed in 1997, funded by Sheikh Ali Alamudi Muhammad. Despite its age, the park can be considered relatively new as it has not suffered damage from extensive use over the years.
Since 2011 E.C., the administration of the park has been under the purview of the Addis Ababa city government
Africa Park is distinguished by the historical heritage trees planted by the African leaders who founded the Organization of African Unity and later the African Union..
Upon its development, the park adhered to standard design specifications and included a detailed site plan. However, despite having a 3-inch water meter, the park experiences leakage, leading to high water bills. Additionally, electricity supply has been disrupted due to non-payment of bills. The internal pavement of Dingway road within the park needs repair, particularly under the trees. The toilets, plumbing, and related fixtures require replacement and repair.
Unlike other parks, Africa Park lacks a comprehensive management structure. However, it employs rangers, cashiers, and guards on a permanent basis. The maintenance of the green areas is entrusted to two micro and small associations under renewable contracts. Additionally, one cafeteria and one fast-food shop are outsourced to provide services.
All three parks offer children's play services, with tickets issued by the office. The park also facilitates payment services for events such as weddings and birthdays. The entrance fee is 100 Birr per ticket. Security personnel at the entrance gates are fully equipped and committed to ensuring the safety of all park visitors. The park's green spaces are maintained to a standard that is both beautiful and attractive.
